Katların zemin seviyesinden 25 m'den fazla olduğu binalarda, yukarıda belirtilen mesafe 1,1 m'den az olmamalıdır. Pencere ne kadar yüksek monte edilirse, odaya o kadar fazla ışık girdiği dikkate alınmalıdır, bu nedenle velux çatı pencereleri, optimum yükseklikte monte edilen pencerelerin açılmasını kolaylaştırmak için bir alt sap açma sistemi ile donatılmıştır.
