Outdoor Adventure Activities and Events In Western Mass

Some people can't stop talking about sunsets over the desert, while others can't stop talking about storms at the beach. Those of us who are lucky enough to live in Western Massachusetts love the quiet of a spring day or the beauty of fall foliage against a sky that is bluer than blue.

One of the best things about Western Massachusetts is being out in nature. Western Massachusetts has a mild climate in the spring, summer, and fall, so there is plenty of time and sunshine to do things outside. And in the winter, it's just as nice to be here and stay warm inside or go outside to enjoy a wide range of winter sports and activities.

Which outdoor activities and events in Western Massachusetts top our list? Even though there is something for everyone, our team shared some of their most memorable favourites.

Whitewater rafting is at the top of our list of unique outdoor things to do in Western Massachusetts when it comes to exploring the wild. There's nothing like the rush of the rapids or the teamwork and friendship you'll make with the other people in your boat. If you want to try this out, Crabapple Whitewater, Berkshire Whitewater, and Zoar Outdoor are all great places to go.

We love exploring the water in all its forms, whether it's riding the rapids or taking a slow cruise along the Connecticut River in the stately Lady Bea. This tour is fun, and if you're looking for a great way to make lasting memories, you can rent the Lady Bea to host your own event, like a family reunion or other event that you'll want to remember.

Looking for things to do with your kids to keep them happy and busy? Look no further than Forest Park and Zoo and Lupa Zoo, two beautiful and educational zoos in our area.

Lupa Zoo has a lot of interesting animals and fun outdoor features like a train, a general store and blacksmith's shop from the past, and a playground. Forest Park Zoo puts a lot of effort into caring for our planet and the animals that make it so special.

There are a lot of ways for older kids to enjoy being outside and still have a lot of interaction and hands-on activities. Six Flags New England (we don't know when it will open because of COVID-19) and Sonny's Place are two of our favourite places to take kids of all ages. Both have a special place in our hearts, one for the thrills and chills and the other for the good old-fashioned family fun.

We haven't forgotten about you, adults. Western Massachusetts has beautiful, lush golf courses where you can drive, chip, and putt as much as you want. Both Crumpin' Fox and The Ranch Golf Club have beautiful and challenging links that are easy to get to. You can spend the day outside, enjoy the sun, and maybe even get bragging rights after playing on these links.

Want to do something more exciting? We think that Berkshire East Mountain Resort and Zoar Outdoor should have something that everyone in your family will enjoy, like skiing, zipline canopy tours, and the world's longest mountain coaster by Mapquest Directions. It's a popular place to go on vacation or get away for the weekend because it has well-equipped lodges, bungalows, and camping options.

And Northfield Mountain Recreational Center is beautiful all year round if you want a quiet place to hike and connect with nature. In the warmer months, you can go boating, fishing, paddle sports, and more. In the winter, you can go cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

When it comes to the great outdoors, Western Massachusetts has a lot of things to do, places to explore, and exciting things to do. You can't go wrong in Western Massachusetts, whether you want to spend a few hours with your family or a whole week exploring the outdoors.
